Men's Skincare Routine Steps

Scientists proved that the way you look boosts your career and improves your personal relationships.

It means that your face needs the same level of attention in front of the mirror, as your body needs in the gym.

And if this did not convince you enough, here are other benefits of taking care of your skin:

  • Shaving will get much easier.

Your skin will have less irritation and redness, and fewer ingrown hairs.

  • Breakouts will go away

Clear up your skin from any signs of acne, blackheads, or excessive oil.

  • Your skin aging will slow down

Nobody can stay youthful forever, but you can significantly slow down the process.

Do not worry if you are a little behind in this. Building a skincare routine for men has never been easier!

Basic Skincare Routine For Men

  1. Step One - Cleanse

Wash your face twice a day - in the morning and evening. It helps your skin to get rid of all the gunk, excess oil, and impurities. And prepares skin for applying other products.

Try using a face wash, because regular bar soaps tend to dry out facial skin. Stick to mild, gentle face cleansers to help ensure effective cleansing without drying out your skin.

  1. Step Two - Exfoliate and Moisturize

Exfoliating your skin once or twice a week is also recommended.  Using an exfoliating acid peel (glycolic acid peel, lactic acid peel).

It will take a couple of minutes but will make a huge difference to keep your skin clear.

Moisturize twice a day - once in the morning and once in the evening. It will protect your skin from environmental damage and premature aging.

In the summer, choose a lightweight gel-based formula with hyaluronic acid. In the colder months, go for a cream-based moisturizer.

  1. Step Three - Protect

Apply a broad spectrum SPF 30+ every morning, all year around. This step in the skincare routine is overlooked, and men just skip it.

In reality, it is an absolute must in your routine. SPF serves as a shield to protect you from premature aging - wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots, and skin cancer.

Pick a mineral-based SPF, which are those with zinc or titanium. They are safe for you and the environment.

Common Skin Concerns For Men

Here are some of the most common skin problems that men struggle with, as well as some tips to fight them:

Acne

To help clear up and prevent acne, make sure you are cleansing your skin properly, especially after workouts. Sweat can contribute to acne and clog your pores.

Try using salicylic acid serum after cleansing. This serum works best for acne and blemishes. It effectively breaks down oils in your skin and unclogs the pores. It leads to fewer breakouts.

Salicylic acid will also make your shaving easier and smoother, reducing the number of bumps and ingrown hair.

Dark Circles

Dark circles can be caused by different reasons - bad sleeping, sun exposure, genetics, etc.

To help restore a younger, brighter look to your eye area, use eye creams/gels with peptides.

Peptides are 'messengers' that send signals to the skin to turn on and off certain processes. They help prevent and reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness.

Takeaway

Men’s skincare routine does not have to be complicated. Dedicating a few minutes of your time a day to take care of your skin can keep you looking healthy and young.
